About Us

In 2005, Adrienne and Marion began to dream of a small press dedicated to making small, engaging, beautifully-crafted books that evoke the spirit of the place they love and call home. They dreamed up the name, had many cups of coffee, long lunches and great walks in the rain before finally — five years later — Postelsia Press was born.

Adrienne Mason is a writer, editor and biologist. She is the author of more than 25 books and writes for young and adult audiences. Her work is wide-ranging, from text books and scientific reports, to books for children on skunks, snakes and sharks, to local histories filled with stories of shipwrecks and ne’er-do-wells. For more on Adrienne’s work, visit her website.

The first art Marion Syme put on her wall was a pencil crayon drawing of Eeyore. She’s had a long, interesting journey since then with a stop as a student at the Emily Carr College of Art in Vancouver. Her love of the environment inspires her work as a graphic designer and fine artist. For more on Marion’s work, visit her website.

Through Postelsia Press we want to share our love of this place. Living here, we know there are many lenses through which to view the west coast and many stories to tell. We’ll tell some of those stories through Postelsia Press. We’d love to hear about the books you’d like to see. Drop us a line!
