For more than 18 years, writer Adrienne Mason has walked the shores of Chesterman Beach. Often, this time on the beach becomes walking meditation. On one such walk Mason began to ponder the idea of scale and perspective, of how the beach might appear to other organisms that share it. From there, she began an exploration of the beach using mathematical terms — from arc and edge to eccentric — as a starting point. The result is 18 Meditations on Chesterman Beach. In this beautifully handcrafted book, Mason explores the natural and cultural history of this beloved Tofino beach and peoples’ varied and changing relationships with it.
